Hey guys!!
Well this is my first entry of this blog for my new hobby. Ive always admired people who can make unique gifts and are personal and something different and a few years ago I made a purchase of such a gift. Back in 2008 my friend at the time was having a baby for which I was throwing her a baby shower and thought what would make the table I was decorating look pretty and unique, you know a nice centre piece? I then started searching around online to see what I could find and came across something called a nappy cake. Well to me that sounded absolutely disgusting but still I clicked on the page to be pleasantly suprised. Basically a hamper made out of nappies in the shape of 1,2 or 3 tiered cakes all displaying goodies for a new born baby such as booties, bibs, socks, teddies you name it people were putting them in. It was perfect for what I was looking for and lets just say it went down a real treat at the baby shower. At the time I wasnt sure how they were made and didnt really bother to investigate further. Until recently someone from my old school had started making them and displaying them on facebook and they are absolutely beautiful the designs she comes up with, I then found someone else I knew to be making them and wondered if it was something I could maybe have a go at seeing as we all live so far apart I wouldnt be standing on any of their toes! I proceeded to look up tutorials on youtube and google and with a bit of help from them and Hannah/Wendy I made my first ever nappy cake - a baby girls one. I will admit the first one wasnt that brilliant but was still loved by the person I gave it to! I am actually addicted now and have made 5 nappy cake 4 of which are girls an 1 boys and I have also started making towel cakes and have made 1 towel cake which I was over the moon with.
Ive set up this blog basically to blog my progress of the cakes and hopefully show them to people who dont know me and get them out there in the hope that I might even be able to sell a few! I will add more pics as I go along but am hoping to make the pictures look a lot nicer but removing the backgrounds.
Id really appreciate if you do read this blog you may pass it on to others. Im not getting my hopes up with it all but its worth a go huh!
